Saii Lagoon is a hotel we recommend if you are in search for something different for your next holiday to the Maldives. I can imagine when you think of the Maldives you have this image of luxury resorts, bounty beaches and blue waters, overwater villas and private butlers. And of course you will find resorts like these on this beautiful destination.
But there’s more to this and there are more options. I am most happy I got the opportunity to experience Saii Lagoon together with my family and share my travel story with you. As Saii Lagoon has its own unique concept. I want to explain what to expect when you will choose this amazing location to stay during your next trip to the tropical Maldives.
Of course I always do some research of the hotels and resorts where we will be staying. With only a short speedboat trip of 20 minutes from Male international airport, Saii Lagoon is easy to reach. That’s and advantage. The resort also has its own Marina, Crossroads Maldives. The Marina connects Saii Lagoon with the Hard Rock Hotel Maldives. When you are choosing this hotel your stay you will have plenty of options to spend your time which is not only limited to your hotel.
Crossroads Maldives
When traveling with 1 teenager and 1 almost teenager they were very excited about our stay here. Hearing there was a teen club, a diving centre, lots of watersports to practice and a marina with boutiques and restaurants. And of course not to forget the Hard Rock Café. It already sounded as musique to their ears before they even arrived in the resort. And if you might think you will have time to get bored during your stay? I will have to disappoint you. Not a chance!
As the Crossroads Maldives have their own shops and restaurants it’s a nice area to spend your time. There is also an amazing spa, which of course I have tested. And I must say the treatment was awesome. But I am an adept of well-being treatments.
Some of the restaurants located in Crossroads Maldives are already included in your all-in package, while in other restaurants you get the chance to use a fixed budget and pay any additional charges when dining there.
Our kids really loved the experience at the Maldives Discovery Center where they could learn all about the underwater world in the Maldives. They spend some time at the diving center to learn all about coral and went on their first diving initiation. So much to do that we didn’t have time to try all of the water experiences during our stay. I believe that is an excellent reason to go back in the future?

Hard Rock Hotel Maldives
And then of course Saii Lagoon has a connection through Crossroad Maldives and to the Hard Rock Hotel Maldives. I wasn’t familiar with the concept of the Hard Rock Hotel so it was my first experience. But my 2 teenagers were thrilled. The hotel has its own Hard Rock Shop and there is also the Hard Rock Café which is included in our all-inclusive package. We discovered a nice dining concept with live entertainment on fixed days.
A huge advantage is that even if you are staying at Saii Lagoon you can use most of the facilities of the Hard Rock Hotel and have lunch or dinner in a selection of restaurants at Hard Rock Hotel which are included in your all-inclusive package. This means of course that you have the choice between a various range of restaurants, swimming pools and activities. This is an additional advantage especially if you want to stay for a longer period in the Maldives and want to prevent island hopping to other hotels.
Needless to say the Hard Rock Hotel has some of the most amazing beach and overwater villas. But our favorite was their party villa. Should you even wish to have a very nice exclusive party with your friends or family during your stay. With its own infinity pool and mesmerizing endless views on the Indian Ocean no doubt your will be able to throw a memorable party and unique experience.
Saii Lagoon overwater villa
I must say we really loved our stay in the overwater villa. You have easy access all over the island by cycle or buggy. But the view there is magnificent. I woke up every morning doing my yoga session on my balcony, hearing the waves of the ocean, watching the blue ocean and seeing the fish swimming around our villa. Is there a better way to start your morning routine? Honestly, I could get used to this every day.
As you have snorkeling material at your disposal we also went for some snorkeling around our overwater villa. But once we discovered the reef tip sharks, we were although a little bit more hesitant to go for another snorkeling experience. However it’s an amazing experience to get in touch with the underwater world. And since this recent trip to the Maldives I definitely loved to swim in the sea and go snorkeling.
Next to that we also experienced a private dinner by the beach since we were celebrating a special occasion. You are able to discuss your wishes with the chef and they create a them dinner especially for you. For the kids they provided a modified menu. What a great experience dining on the beach in a very romantic setting.
One more thing I wanted to mention. The infinity pool at Saii Lagoon is another amazing place to spend some time. Especially when you are sitting in it and seeing the dolphins swimming by. Who’s in for an amazing experience?
